Curious about processing your own fleece? Or working with a rare-breed, long-wool fiber?
I have a couple Natural Colored Leicester Longwool fleeces that I would like to offer to CVFG members in one or two pound lots. FREE. I can mail the fiber to you or you can meet me in Charlottesville on Tuesday March 2. If I mail them to you, I would appreciate reimbursement for postage. Lightly skirted, minimal vegetable matter, no second cuts, no matted or breech fiber. 5-6” staple. You will love the pewter color and sheen in this fleece. This is fresh fleece from sheep raised on our no-kill fiber farm. Leicester Longwool cleans up and dyes beautifully. It is not necessarily a next-to-the-skin fiber, but great for hats, mittens, shawls, slippers, rugs, felting, etc. It is also an excellent blending fiber for lighter wools like alpaca or angora if you’re looking to offer strength to a weaker yarn.
