Fiber Prep Day

Would you like to learn how to comb, card, use a drum carder or blending board? Don’t know what the difference is between a rolag and a puni? Do you have your own tools that you would like help learning to use? Beginners to experienced are welcome. Let’s prep fiber together!

There will be areas set up for:
– Learning about raw fleece and washing
– Using hand cards, including cotton cards
– Drum carding
– Creating batts or punis on a blending board
– Making top from hand combs

Fibers for carding and combing will be available as well as all of the tools and equipment, for your use during the day. Any fiber you prepare (rolags, batts or combed top) is yours to take home. If you have your own fiber you’d like to process or tools you have questions about, feel free to bring them.

No prior experience using any fiber prep tools is necessary. There will be a group of volunteer Guild members to help you. If you would like to volunteer your time helping others with preparing fiber, please email programs.

This is a Guild sponsored event and there is no cost, but it is limited to 20 participants and registration is required. We do ask that if you register but cannot make it, that you notify programs so that someone from the waiting list can take your place.
